EXPANSION VESSELS
Expansion vessels or, in the Oil&Gas sector, pressure accumulators, are devices designed to regulate the supply or the pressure inside the system itself, avoiding the phenomenon of overpressure and the “classic” water hammer.
Depending on the intended use and particular functions, there are different types of batteries:
Membrane accumulator
Free-haired accumulator: the pressure inside the system is counteracted by atmospheric pressure.

Expansion Tank: An Expansion Tank is a tank used to protect a closed hydraulic system, such as system for water heating, sanitary water systems and industrial water, from excessive pressure. The tank is partially filled with air or nitrogen, its compressibility cushioning the shocks caused by the water hammer and absorbs the excess water pressure caused by the thermal expansion.
